Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet with students one-to-one or in small groups to provide learning assistance and strategies on current course material.
- Maintain a weekly schedule of available hours for student appointments of no less than 10 hours per week and no more than 20 hours per week.
- Keep regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions using available software and/or relevant forms.
- Visit class(s) to make contact with the faculty member at least once to obtain any necessary course syllabi or materials.
- Attend tutor-training sessions as required by the Tutor Coordinator.
- Attend workshops in order to obtain necessary certification.
- Utilization of Tutor Match Services
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Be a current undergraduate or graduate student of CDU
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for undergraduates and 3.5 for graduates.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILLS:
- Completion of a particular course tutoring with earning at least a B
- Recommendation from a faculty member of each course to tutor.
- Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
- Good level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
- Appropriate and professional behavior at all times.
- Demonstrated database management skills.
- Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines and attain growth-oriented goals.
- Must possess excellent computer skills and be proficient in MS Windows, Word, Excel, etc.
COMPLEXITY:
- The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.
