Position Details: Work Shift: Night Shift - 12 (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36 Department: Ultra Sound Overview of Position: Performs diagnostic ultrasound and/or vascular exams on all types of patients in an efficient and caring manner in order to provide data for the diagnosis of a wide variety of medical conditions. Evaluates exams for diagnostic quality while using professional judgment in the performance of services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Operates medical diagnostic ultrasound equipment to complete a variety of procedures including obstetrical, abdominal, and vascular exams as applicable. 2. Assists physicians in fine needle biopsy and localization procedures. 3. Consistently produces diagnostic quality exams, individualizing technical factors, scanning parameters and patient positioning as required by each procedure. 4. Effectively uses computer systems (such as HIS, RIS, PACS) to process, access and distribute appropriate department and patient procedure information. 5. Assists in transportation of patients to and from the department. 6. Participates in providing education and information to patients and their families. 7. Participates in clinical training of ultrasound and/or radiology students by providing instruction, supervision and evaluation as required. 8. Participates in quality assurance/quality control activities as required. 9. Assumes call status as necessary during off hours for emergency procedures. 10. Performs other functions as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in the appropriate specialty (OB/Gyn, Abdominal). 2. Demonstrated competence in all diagnostic ultrasound procedures including invasive exams such as ultrasound-guided biopsies. 3. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolution skills. 4. Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills. 5. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment. 6. Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of computer software related to electronic image and clinical information management. 7. CPR Certified PATIENT CENTERED CARE & BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS 1. Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.
