Position Description: The Hotel Security Officer position involves ensuring the safety and security of guests and staff across four distinct hotel locations in downtown and central Phoenix. These properties, originally residential buildings, have been converted into hotels, each with its unique layout and clientele. The officer will be assigned to any of these locations at given times, requiring adaptability and a keen understanding of the different environments. The role includes regular patrols, stair navigation, prolonged standing, non-invasive bag searches, room checks, and safeguarding hotel safes and staff areas. Verifying guest identification is crucial for maintaining security and a respectful atmosphere, especially considering the diverse clientele, including the homeless population. Writing detailed incident reports and managing security-related documentation are key responsibilities. The candidate must possess a certified guard card to perform security duties within these hotel settings.Skills Required: Excellent observational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Proficiency in writing clear, comprehensive incident reports. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Competency in conducting respectful bag searches and room checks. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform regular patrols, including navigating different layouts and staircases. Skill in respectfully interacting with a diverse range of guests, including vulnerable populations.Skills Preferred: Experience in security within the hospitality industry or similar environments. Knowledge of first aid and emergency response protocols.Experience Required: Proven experience in a security role focusing on observation, reporting, and documentation. Experience in managing non-confrontational situations.Experience Preferred: Previous experience in hotel or hospitality security, especially in buildings with diverse layouts. Experience working with diverse and potentially vulnerable groups, such as the homeless.Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a certified guard card.Education Preferred: Security guard training or relevant certification. Training in non-violent communication, de-escalation techniques, and incident reporting.Additional Information: The Security Officer must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Adherence to hotel policies, especially concerning guest privacy and safety, is mandatory. Flexibility in work hours and the ability to work at different locations in downtown and central Phoenix, including night shifts and weekends, is required.
