Overview

Crisis Stabilization Community-Based Services (CSCBS) On-Call Therapists are prn staff who provide remote evaluations for enrollment into CSCBS services. In addition, CSCBS On-Call Therapists will provide remote therapeutic interventions for clients in crisis in coordination with the CSCBS team as part of the required treatment plan of the service.

Responsibilities

Key Accountability

* During an on-call shift, be available by telephone and be prepared to respond to calls within a 2-hour timeframe for remote assessment.

* Provide remote evaluations for enrollment of identified clients referred to CSCBS services.

* Complete related data entry and documentation in accordance with agency policy.

* Coordinate with CSCBS team.

* Provide remote therapeutic interventions as needed.

Qualifications

Education: Holds at least a master's degree in a mental health field including, but not limited to, psychology, counseling and guidance, psychiatric nursing and social work; or is a doctor of medicine or osteopathic medicine.

Experience: Has at least two years of post-degree experience supervised by a mental health professional in assessing mental health problems, mental illness, and service needs while providing mental health services.

License(s)/Certification(s): Holds a current Iowa license (such as a psychiatrist, a psychologist, a marital and family therapist, a mental health counselor, an advanced registered nurse practitioner, a psychiatric nurse, or a social worker). Pass criminal records/dependent adult/child abuse checks completed by your employer.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to tolerate a high stimulus environment, frequent interruptions, and changes in work priorities. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from medical professionals, management, staff, clients, and the public. Able to speak, read, write fluent English with ability to write legibly, and understand common terminology of the mental health field. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Possess teamwork skills including problem solving, cooperation, communication, stating opinions and negotiating. Knowledge of effects of mental illness and ability to relate respectfully to a wide range of client deficits and abilities both individually and in groups. Possess a high degree of empathy and understanding, the ability to maintain boundaries and a professional distance from consumers, and must enjoy working with people. Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be well organized. Must have an excellent attendance record.

Other: Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. Have access to a reliable vehicle while on shift. Possess a working telephone. Have reliable internet access while on shift. Have access to necessary equipment to perform required documentation.
