UNDERGROUND UTILITY LABORER

Civil Contracting firm seeking experienced pipe layers and pipe layer helpers. Must have experience in underground water, sewer and storm drain utilities, Lay pipe for storm, sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. Perform any combination of the following tasks: grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints. Candidate must have reliable transportation. Must also have valid ID to work in United States. Positions available for immediate start.ResponsibilitiesAble to accept and use clear and concise directions to complete work assignmentsSelecting size and type of pipe, fittings, valves, and couplingsAssemble and install variety of pipe, to include PVC, ductile iron, and concreteConnect pipes using threaded, gasketed or cemented joints and hand toolsUtilizing shores and potholing techniques for safety purposesUtilizing pipe laser to ensure that pipe is installed on gradeTest pipe system for leaksAble to meet deadlines and follow up to ensure quality resultsPrepare trenches to receive pipe, sand, gravel, etcPosition flexibility, as required to complete the jobDigging holes or drainage ditches using shovels and/or picksWearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the jobsiteAccurately count take off items as they are delivered, as well as ensuring the delivery is correctFollow plans to ensure job completeness and positive contractor relationsWork with Inspectors, Engineers, and General Contractors when necessary, to resolve issuesWillingness to work in a team environment and assist coworkers with other duties as requiredResponsibility in reporting to work on a consistent and timely basisPossess a reliable source of transportation
