Great American's Mergers & Acquisitions Liability Division underwrites primary and excess Representations & Warranties (R&W) Insurance, Tax Indemnity Insurance and Tax Credit Insurance. This division handles policies of up to $50 million in limits. The M&A Division of Great American is currently recruiting an Underwriting Analyst to join our team. The Underwriting Analyst will assist the mergers and acquisitions liability division in underwriting representations and warranties insurance and will work remotely. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist underwriters on Representation & Warranties deals
  • Review non-disclosure agreements, joinders, and nonreliance agreements
  • Draft excess policies and provide other support in the policy drafting process
  • Process submissions, quotes and binders and respond to broker inquiries on tight deadlines
  • Review and summarize Representations & Warranties submissions
    • Transaction document and due diligence analysis
    • Financial statement analysis
    • Business and legal risk analysis
    • Orders and analyzes miscellaneous business reports needed in the rating and underwriting processes, including credit checks, bank agreements, financial statements, and underwriting surveys.
  • Support tax underwriters with underwriting tasks
  • Participate in internal underwriting calls with M&A deal team
  • Administers, applies and may update underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations
  • Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers in order to attract and retain profitable business
  • Internal data management
  • Client correspondence
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate, master's degree or Juris Doctorate generally preferred. Will also consider candidates right out of law school looking to gain experience in the M&A field.
  • Generally, 6 to 10 years of related experience
  • Experience with financial statements, taxes and legal documents preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Work may be required outside of ordinary business hours
Business Unit: Mergers & Acquisitions Salary Range: $100,000.00 -$130,000.00 Benefits: We offer competitive healthcare, retirement, and paid time off benefits for full-time and part-time benefit eligible employees.
