Job Description Are you looking for your next opportunity? Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant in our Excess Casualty team. Our Excess Casualty Underwriting team offers excess liability coverage for middle to large size corporations with target industry verticals such as Product Manufacturers, Retail Operations, Contractors, and Food Processors. We work through a network of brokers who share our commitment to long-term partnerships built on a strong service proposition. As an Underwriting Assistant, you will support our commitment through client servicing, policy processing, and collaborating with underwriters and other assistants. Location: This position will be based out of our New York City office.   • Assist underwriters with quote, binder, policy issuance, and endorsement workflows
  • Create, register, process and distribute binders, policies, and endorsements within processing standards
  • Prepare and maintain underwriting files, such as underwriting workbooks, ensuring for file integrity
  • Review and analyze facultative reinsurance certificates as determined by management
  • Ensure all underwriting activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze and resolve premium discrepancies such as partnering with accounting to settle overdue premiums
  • Implement and maintain a field service reputation that is recognized as superior in the industry
What you'll bring
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting support experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas to drive our business
  • Technical capabilities such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Undergraduate degree or demonstrable industry experience
Salary Range: $65,000- $100,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
