POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will use their expert level underwriting knowledge, analytical skills, and customer service to support the company's various underwriting and business units. The Underwriting Operations Analyst will promote and build strong working relationships with internal and external underwriting units, IT, Regulatory/Compliance, Business Development and Partner Relations. They will work collaboratively with these teams to review and respond to underwriting opportunities, issues, and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze ISO, NCCI and other bureau circulars to determine impact to underwriting and required policy system changes.
  • Coordinate underwriting review and implementation of ISO, NCCI and other bureau rating and form changes with Regulatory, Underwriting and IT departments.
  • Oversee and explore vendor relationships that improve underwriting efficiency and provide required industry services needed to operate as an insurance carrier.
  • Assist Data Management Team with collection of underwriting data from external partners.
  • Aggregate and analyze underwriting data and prepare relevant reports for senior management that help drive corporate strategy.
  • Research various underwriting issues and inquiries, and effectively communicate findings to internal and external underwriting partners.
  • Work cross functionally to identify areas needing process improvement; assist in building and strengthening efficiency by streamlining procedures across the organization.
  • Lead or assist with special projects as needed.
  • Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    · 5+ years of property casualty underwriting experience, with a strong emphasis in workers' compensation or equivalent training program preferred.

    · Advanced knowledge of Excel, PPT, Word, PDF, and policy management software.

    · Understanding of commercial insurance products and has the willingness to learn about new insurance developments, trends, and products.

    · Exceptional communication skills and business acumen are necessary.

    · Must be a self-starter with proven analytical skills and the ability to operate independently, escalating items as necessary.

    · Excellent organizational and time management skills with a commitment to honesty, integrity, and unwavering business ethics.

    · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers and external partners.

    · Knowledge of or experience with fronted program business preferred.

    · Continuing insurance industry designations beneficial. (i.e. AINS, CPCU, AU)

    · Ability to travel up to 10%.
