Primary Responsibilities

1. Develop Underwriting Processes and Best Practices

* Responsible for design and ownership of key underwriting processes (i.e. rating, quote, bind, invoicing, etc.)

* Work collaboratively with underwriting community to critically assess existing underwriting processes and spot opportunities for efficiency gains

* Coordinate with profit center leadership and Office of CUO to establish best practices and performance standards that promote consistent processes

2. Facilitate IT-related System Projects

* Represent the underwriting community in strategic IT projects

* Manage resource allocation towards IT user experience testing

* Collect and deliver underwriting system feedback given by the underwriting community to IT leadership

3. Foster Culture of Continuous Improvement

* Design and implement performance metrics to track process performance and identify problem areas

* Build feedback loop(s) to help users identify opportunities for improvement

4. Training Documentation & Delivery

* Design and document underwriting processes for UA and underwriting training

* Responsible for process and system training delivery to underwriting community

* Profit Center UA Managers

* Product Managers/Office of the CUO

Desired Qualifications

* 10+ years of experience in operations and workflow design

* 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry

* 3+ years project management experience

* Ability to influence desired outcomes in cross-functional projects

* Experience designing and documenting underwriting processes

* Experience using underwriting systems and working on related projects

* Understanding of emerging insurtech technologies and AI

* Strong collaboration and team-building skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Visio, and Power BI

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $130,000-$217,000
