Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionAs a Locksmith for the GE Aerospace Research you will:
- Secure job assignment and partial instructions for diverse work, conventional facilities
- and materials.
- Interpret sequence of operation.
- Use tools and facilities.
- Install, service and repair locks for doors, desks, files, cabinets, etc.
- Repair and refit worn or damaged doors.
- Install service and repair panic bars, door stops and door closers.
- Clean, repair, modify, and adjust gages, indicators, mikes , and gas regulators.
- Modify and test regulators for special applications.
- Make up hoses for air and gas applications.
- Open defective combination locks on safes and repair as required. Change safe combinations as requested by security office.
- Work from drawings, sketches, and other instructions to perform machining operations such as mill, turn, face, bore, groove, contour, dovetail, drill, tap, etc. to precise electrical and mechanical tolerances.
- Keep records of doors, keys, etc. including having pictures taken or make sketches of modified
- locks as necessary.
- Operate machine tools such as: bench lathe, miller, drill press, key machine, hand saw, sanders, brazing equipment, etc., to make or modify parts as required.
- Works inside and outside.
- Perform the above operations to close tolerances and requirements on keys, locks, safes, gas regulators, gages, indicators, etc. within ordinary limits of the capabilities of the facilities.
- Keep facilities, material and work area orderly exercising care in their use, maintaining general good housekeeping practices and conforming to all safety and quality requirements
Required Qualifications :- Associate's Degree in Machining Discipline OR High School Diploma/GED with a Military Manufacturing Training Course OR High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of machining experience / Journeyman's card with completion of a Industrial Trades apprentice program
- Must be able to obtain Department of Defense (DOD) clearance
- Ability and willingness to work off shifts and weekends
- Ability, with or without accommodation, to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds
- Must pass physical, background and drug screens.
- Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment, for example safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and safety shoes
- Ability and willingness to take a pre-employment test and submit to technical interview.
- Must be 18 years or older

Desired Qualifications:- Ablility to read blueprints
- Strong math skills Able to use, read, and understand measuring tools
- Knowledge of common PC tools, Excel, Word, Power Point, etc
- Reading comprehension; understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
- Able to follow written instructions and take verbal instructions
- Able to work with computerized shop floor tools to include, but not limited to: vouchering systems, on-line quality programs, and payroll management tools
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team with minimal supervision
The hourly pay range for this position $32.44 - $39.55 USD per hour. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
