Job Description:
Who we are looking for: We are searching for an Assembler/ ACS Utility based out of New Bedford, MA Duchaine Facility. Reporting to Value Stream Leader, the assembler will be responsible for performing any assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools. What you'll do: Assembler/ACS responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Read and comprehend production Standard Work and Job Function Analysis (JFA)
  • Ensure production materials are available
  • Operate and observe machinery during production.
  • Identify acceptable or unacceptable product quality to customer requirements and quality standards
  • Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers to achieve productivity and site goals
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions immediately
  • Perform any assembly-type functions, using hand or power tools
  • Operate chop saw cutting flexible metal conduit to specified lengths
  • Pull multiple lengths of electrical copper wire through conduit
  • Cut & strip wire using manual hand tools
  • Crimp electrical contact onto wire ends using hand tool or automated crimp machine
  • Perform close-in assembly work in manufacture of connector assemblies
  • Operate any equipment needed to perform job
  • Report any quality control issues to supervisor
  • Work as individual or team environment
  • Perform related duties as needed by supervision
What you'll bring:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 1½ years Assembly, Machine Operator and/or manufacturing experience
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to read and understand basic electrical schematic diagrams
  • Pay attention to detail
  • Maintain a clean & safe environment
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently required to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Within 3 months, you'll:
  • Complete any required training
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.
