Responsibilities:

  • Monitor for current notes in medical record by all disciplines; notifies responsible disciplines if discrepancies are noted.
  • Cull (thin) medical records periodically and upon discharge; organize medical records in accordance with established medical record policies and procedures
  • Prepare all new admission medical records.
  • Answer telephone, take messages, may call physicians for non-emergency communications or as directed by charge nurse.
  • Answer resident/patient call bells; arrange for assistance from appropriate staff if necessary.
  • Monitor and log needed repairs on unit.
  • Assist with transfer of residents/patients as needed (i.e. Dining Room, Rehabilitative services, etc).
  • Accompany residents/patients to outside facility appointments.

Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have 2 years clerical experience, including appointment setting and transportation coordination
  • Must have basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must have excellent communication and phone skills
  • Must have excellent customer relations experience with residents, co-workers and families
  • Able to maintain professional demeanor and attitude at all times, including crisis situations
  • Be accurate, organized and strong follow up skills
  • Able to handle confidential information.

Compensation:

  • Rate will be commensurate with experience.
