If you are looking for a meaningful career working as part of a multi-disciplinary team that impacts lives, please consider the Health Care Technician -Unit Clerk position at Julian F. Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (JFK-ADATC) in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
The primary responsibility of the Health Care Technician - Unit Clerk (HCT-UC) is to provide support to the clients in working toward the goals and objectives of their treatment plans and to manage the milieu on each unit. This will be provided through his or her assistance to clients and the treatment team in the areas of fostering a therapeutic environment on the unit, helping clients in activities of daily living skills, helping the treatment team to monitor any medical, emotional, behavioral, or social problems, and supporting the clients in their efforts to overcome these problems. It is the responsibility of the HCT/UC to accompany and/or transport patients in need of medical services outside the facility. The HCT/UC manages the milieu of the unit by close observation and interaction with all patients. Although the HCT/UC may be assigned to a specific unit or shift, the HCT/UC is expected to provide coverage in any area as needed to provide a full range of services.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
* assistance with direct patient care such as transportation
* activities of daily living, and monitoring and observing the patients in the milieu.
* providing support to the staff working with patients.
* answering the telephone, managing orders and requests, filing, making appointments and assisting nursing staff with their duties.
This posting is for the Rehabilitation Unit and will work Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30 pm.
Some holidays, weekends and overtime may be required.
About the facility: JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Minimum Education and Experience

Special Condition for Continued Employment
As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
Education and Experience Preferred:
* Experience with substance abusers, Detox clients, mentally ill, and/ or emotionally disturbed clients in crisis
* Previous Unit Clerk Experience
* Experience with Microsoft Systems and Data Entry
* CPI Certification

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:
A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).
An employee is noteligible for a sign-on bonus if:
* the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
* the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
* or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
