Come be a part of the excitement!We are seeking a dedicated and organized Unit Secretary to join our inpatient psychiatric hospital team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the unit. This role is crucial in maintaining effective communication between staff, patients, and families, contributing to a therapeutic environment for our patients. Key Responsibilities:Administrative Support:
  • Perform clerical duties including answering phones, managing correspondence, and maintaining patient records.
  • Assist in preparing admissions and discharges, assisting therapists with family sessions, and providing support during visitation.
Patient Interaction:
  • Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors in a professional manner.
  • Provide information and support families regarding patient care and hospital policies.
Record Management:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Process admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
Communication:
  • Facilitate communication between nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Relay critical information promptly to the appropriate team members.
Unit Operation:
  • Monitor and order supplies for the unit, ensuring adequate inventory levels.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
Compliance:
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including confidentiality and patient rights.
  • Participate in department meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Unit Clerk
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in a healthcare related field preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in psychiatric or behavioral health, is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment.
