Job Description:
Title: Unit Director Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hours: Full-time, may include evening and weekends. Hours TBD by Supervisor Salary Range: $42,000.00 - $45,000, exempt Primary Functions: Directs/manages overall daily operations of the Boys and Girls Club of Hocak Nisoc Haci with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration. Key Responsibilities: Leadership
  • Establish Unit programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes. These programs include college and career readiness, smart leaders, and project learn.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.
Strategic Planning
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate Unit overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.
Resource Management
  • Assist Unit financial resources and assist with the development of annual budgets.
  • Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of the facilities by outside groups. Ensure compliance with organization policies.
  • Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for branch staff and volunteers. Conduct regular staff meeting.
Partnership Development
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.
Marketing and Public Relations
  • Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities with the Club and the community
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Required to drive Club van.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License
  • Must be Insurable
  • Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
  • Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Chief Executive Officer.
Relationships:
  • Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintains contact with CEO. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel.
  • External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
  • Two-year degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys and Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
  • Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • Skills in fund-raising events.
  • Complete Professional Development Plan.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
Physical Requirements/Work environment:
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and some work will be completed outdoors. Standing for long periods of time. Driving youth to attend special events. Some travel will be expected.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:
  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 13.01, Subpart D, section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with P.L. 101-630 and P.L. 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
