Overview

Responsible for assisting the health care team with the clerical duties of the behavioral health unit. Patients served are patients of all ages in need of the secure setting of a locked behavioral health unit. St. Luke's C.A.R.E. delivery model (Continuity, Accountability, Relationship-based, Evidence-based) reflects a commitment to compassionate, competent care delivered by the interdisciplinary team. Care is provided through a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family. A spirit of inquiry is encouraged and supported. Small tests of change and more formal research efforts are used when the evidence is not clear. Evidence-driven protocols are utilized to assure reliable and consistent care.

Responsibilities

* Assist with safety procedures on the units-patient rounds, searches of patients and belongings

* Understands and complies with unit safety protocols per division guidelines

* Maintains competence in performing procedures involved with the management of violent or potentially violent patients.

* Complies with policies for restraint and seclusion per service guidelines.

* Is knowledgeable regrading managed care implications for their job-obtaining release of information from patients, question precertification completion when necessary.

* Follow unit protocol to ensure patient confidentiality when answering phone/greeting visitors.

* Assists with designated unit data collection as requested.

Qualifications

* Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.

* High school graduate or GED equivalent

* Multicultural sensitivity.

* Microsoft Office - basic computer skills.

* Customer/patient focused.

* Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

* Area of Interest: Administrative and Clerical;

* FTE/Hours per pay period: 0.6;

* Department: Adolescent Behavioral/3E;

* Shift: Saturday and Sunday 9am-9:30pm;
