Job Description:
Responsible for secretarial and clerical duties necessary to maintain high quality and efficient daily operations of department. Assures responsibility for professional development and practice, while maintaining communication with multiple departments. The listing of job duties contained in this job description is not all inclusive. Duties may be added and subtracted at any time due to the needs of the organization.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and other departments, while interacting professionally with providers, co-workers, and outside facilities.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to providers, co-workers, nurse manger, and other departments and outside facilities.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
  • Compiles, organizes, and processes information for the department.
  • Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated.
  • Handles delivery of mail daily to and from campuses.
  • Has working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Responsible for answering the phone in a professional manner and receiving and relaying messages, answering general questions and referring all other questions to the appropriate personnel. Will not triage patients nor give medical advice.
  • Retrieves information as requested; along with abstracting patient charts and inputting clinical data.
  • Handles clinical tasking from nurses and providers.
  • Able to effectively copy, fax, scan, and file patient and department information appropriately.
  • Regularly reviews office protocols and implements revisions as appropriate.
  • Creates a pre-visit checklist and ensures all information is obtained and ready for review.
  • Request outside records from referring facilities: last visits, hospital discharge, device checks, and labs.
  • Update all cardiac procedures.
  • Responsible for cleaning up inaccurate information in the patients' chart.
  • Mentor new employees.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.
Education/Experience:
  • High School Graduate.
  • Prior medical experience preferred.
  • Requires good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively interact with physicians, patients, families and clinic staff.
