Job Summary and QualificationsSPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Emergency Department Unit Coordinator, as part of the clinical team, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for basic supportive care to patients with the guidelines outlined in this position description. The UC will assist in the smooth, efficient functioning of the nursing unit including transcription of medical orders, scheduling of procedures/testing, obtaining/maintaining supplies and equipment and general clerical duties as follows:
Assists the Emergency Department provider with transcription of medical orders outside of the Computerized Physician Order Entry system when requested during emergency situations.
Performs general clerical duties including use of computer systems, paging, faxing, obtaining signed medical releases and records.
Communicates patient/family requests to nursing personnel in a timely manner i.e. answers call bells, ensure No Pass Zone is recognized, participates in patient safety rounds, etc.
Coordinates patient admission with Bed Manager and conveys information to nurse.
Assembles/maintains medical record for all inpatient or outpatient visits.
Ensures patient chart is complete and ready when patient is transferred or admitted.
Assists with pre-registering and rooming patients under the direction of the nursing staff.
Assists with patient call backs.
Assists in the stocking of patient rooms.
Assists in organizing Emergency Department equipment and supplies.
Schedule is going to be 7A-7P, 36 hours a week
What qualifications you will need:Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
