Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager and the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Intensive Care Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech provide a variety of patient care and clerical activities. These activities are carried out according to hospital policy, the hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing.
The Intensive Care Unit Secretary/Monitor Tech provide clerical support for the functions of the intensive care unit. Receptionist duties include greeting visitors in a friendly manner, courteously answering the telephone and taking accurate messages, and maintaining communication with physician, ancillary departments and supervisors. Enters and updates computer data and assists in maintaining supplies for the unit. Ensures proper handling of patient charts. Provides EKG monitoring for the patients in the ICU.
Qualifications:MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent; relevant experience in lieu of High School Diploma/GED education will be considered.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Previous experiences in acute, sub acute or long-term care setting preferred. Monitor Tech experience preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
EKG Monitoring exam within 6 months of hire.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Utilizes knowledge of EKG monitoring, and clerical skills to assist the registered nursing staff. Computer skills preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Includes working rotational shifts, holiday, and every other weekend. May be required to participate in on call basis staffing. Schedules and work shifts may be changed in respect to patient procedure demands and hospital census. During low census or low procedure volumes, staff may be required to rotate days off without pay or utilize skills within the hospital.
