Who is eligible to complete observation hours?
Preservice teachers who have been approved by their Educator Preparation Program (EPP) may request to conduct observation hours. Only preservice teachers with prior approval and who are cleared by the district HR department may engage in observation hours. Note: This application will require you to submit approval to engage in field observation from your EPP.
How many hours am I allowed to complete?
There are no limits to the number of observation hours that can be earned during a semester; however, you must have approval from your EPP to conduct field observations. Note: You must apply to the post each semester you wish to request observation hours.
Will I be allowed to split hours in various campuses?
You will need approval from your EPP to earn hours across more than one campus for the district/campus to consider multiple placements requests.
How will I receive confirmation about my placement?
You will receive an email confirming your placement along with contact information for the campus principal where you will be completing your observation hours.
Can I decide what campus or teacher/class I will be observing?
All requests to observe at a specific campus are considered but are not guaranteed. You will be paired with a highly qualified teacher as defined by Texas Administrastive Code 228.35 and your EPP's Clincial Teaching requirements.
Will I have to do a background check?
All classroom observers will be required to complete a background check. The background check will be completed by the HR department prior to placement confirmation.
