The GES Center serves as a key regional, national and international hub of interdisciplinary analyses and inclusive dialogue surrounding emerging technologies and society. It takes the lead in using in-depth research and dialogue-based approaches to provide public with rigorous, trustworthy analyses of how products of GE technologies may impact society and the environment.
Essential Job Duties
The University Program Associate will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of most components of the Center's daily activities, which shall include, but are not limited to:
* Manage and monitor all GES Center grants including monthly reconciliations, burn rates, PMR's and closeouts.
* Oversee the GES Center budget.
* Keep the GES Executive Committee informed of budget.
* Process all financials, including vouchers, IDT's, JV's, purchase-card reconciler for Center p-card accounts, travel, reconciling all accounts monthly.
* Knowledge of University, state and federal policies and procedures - working knowledge of said policies regarding travel, spending (p-card and marketplace and vouchers), and different types of ledger accounts. Ability to resolve issues that arise with any of the above. Ability to effectively communicate policies to others.
* Respond to non-standard inquiries and advising others regarding university policies and procedures for non-standard situations. Additionally, organize and communicate with invited guests (local, national and international) to the university on all aspects of their visit, reimbursement, etc.
* Serve as liaison for human resources paperwork for hiring of employees and submitting salary distribution changes for the Center staff.
* Utilize advanced functionality of new and standard software applications simultaneously to perform work duties.
* Participate in implementing upcoming events by coordinating logistics, menu planning, overseeing the budget and processing all financials.
Other Responsibilities
* Dissemination of all information to GES Executive Committee
* Contract maintenance for various contractors involved with GES Center projects:
* Monitor contracts for delivery of goods/services
* Assure delivered items meet contract specifications
* Write required reports
* Process and approve all student travel
* General clerical tasks such as managing calendars for group meetings, copying, scanning and filing documents
* Take official notes for all GES related meetings
Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Knowledge of NCSU Financials, Grants, and HR policies and procedures
* Must be organized and able to multi-task to meet deadlines
* Proficient in the advanced functionality of new and standard software applications simultaneously to perform work duties. Such software applications include: Wolfware (Moodle), Financials (Marketplace, vouchers, JV's, IDTs, P-card reconciliation, travel), PowerPoint, Word, Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in an interdisciplinary program.
