VTG is seeking a Upholsterer/Upholstery Restoration Specialist in Patuxent River, MD to support the Presidential Helicopters Support Program.
What will you do?Repairs and rebuilds upholstered aircraft furnishings using hand tools and knowledge of fabrics and upholstery methods.
This includes removing coverings, webbing and padding from seats, arms, backs and sides of work piece using a tack puller, chisel, and mallet.
Removes defective springs by cutting cords or wires that hold them in place, replaces webbing and springs or reties springs as necessary.
Measures and cuts new covering material, installs material on inside of arms, back, seat, and over outside back and arms.
The Upholsterer tacks or sews ornamental trim, such as braid and buttons, to cover and frame, may operate sewing machine to seam cushions and join various sections of covering materials, may repair wooden frame of work piece, repair seats from various types of aircraft, repair a variety of items requiring special shaping, cushioning and covering including aircraft insulation and soundproofing panels, repair special devices and assemblies and other items such as carpets and other fabrics.
Working knowledge of publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams and schematics are mandatory, military applications preferred.
Working knowledge of upholstery, sewing processes and products.
Pay Range: VTG's estimated starting pay rate is $31.27/hr which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
