Position Type: Transportation Department/Upholstery RepairmanDate Posted: 1/8/2024Location: Transportation DepartmentDate Available: 01/08/2024 EPORTS TO: Director of Transportation APPLICATION DEADLINE: Open Until Filled LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 261 days DATE REVISED: SEPT 18, 2015 WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt SALARY RANGE: $16.99 Minimum $24.21 Maximum PAY GRADE: AU4 PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Upholstery employee is responsible for repairing all bus seats as well as repair seats and interior of other school vehicles. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in Industrial Sewing Machine Operation Dependable and Cooperative High School Diploma or GED preferred Effective Human Relation Skills Qualified Bus Driver - CDL License with P & S endorsement Ability to pass alcohol and drug test Acceptable driving record Region One ESC certification for bus drivers MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Repairs all seats on school buses and the interior of other district owned vehicles as needed. Repairs seat belts on buses and other vehicles. Repairs baby seats for Special Education buses and Early Childhood buses. Secures all bus seats to frame. Maintains sewing equipment in good working condition. Maintains clean work area. Maintains log of seats repaired by unit and cost. Notifies Coordinator or Supervisor of excessive seat damage. Surveys buses to determine which seats needs repairing. Schedules repair of seats. Observes safety practices at all times in performing duties. Uses time effectively. Drives a school bus as needed. Assists with inventory of parts as needed. Assist with quarterly inventories. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others. Performs other related duties as assigned. EQUIPMENT USED: Industrial Sewing Machine, scissors, glue guns, vinyl repair kits, blow dryers, staple machine, foams, glues, vinyl, and cloth materials, and all tools and machinery as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental factors: Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and sitting; work outside and inside, around moving parts; exposed to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals,fumes, gasoline, and diesel exhaust fuel.
