In order to be considered for this role, after clicking Apply Now above and being redirected, you must fully complete the application process on the follow-up screen.Job Title: Urban Youth Academy - Manager, Community Engagement & ProgramsJob Summary: The Kansas City Urban Youth Academy (UYA) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to empower Kansas's City's urban youth through baseball, softball, academic and social opportunities to be the leaders of tomorrow. The UYA exists to provide a safe, positive environment and surround youth participants with coaches, mentors and role models to help them succeed on and off the field - while growing the games of baseball and softball in the urban community.This position is housed at the Urban Youth Academy and will supervise one staff member and is responsible for overseeing our community program portfolio including developing and executing all tasks and duties associated with our flagship Crown Schools and entrepreneurial programs. These duties include but are not limited to supporting the development of new relationships and growing existing community partnerships, as well as deepening the impact of our flagship programs.Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:Crown Schools•Manage and execute all aspects of the Crown Schools program including programmatic activities, stakeholder relations, monitoring & evaluation, budget etc.•Serve as the main point of contact for the Crown Schools program.•Build and strengthen relationships with key partners including area schools, school districts, local leagues, churches, etc.•Deepen the impact of the program including growing the number of schools.•Conduct programmatic monitoring and evaluation, including assessing feedback from student surveys, to ensure optimal execution and impact.•Conduct orientation for new schools who join the Crown Schools program and coordinate field trips•Maintaining a positive relationship with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.•Ensuring that branded promotional items are available for students at the end of their field trip.•Coordinate field days and manage special events with the Crown Schools.•Promote programming opportunities hosted by the Urban Youth Academy to Crown Schools.•Collaborate with teams within the Community Impact Department to enhance education and literacy initiatives.•Maintain relationship with USA Baseball and oversee the MLB THE SHOW program.Entrepreneurial Program•Develop and execute a program that offers students opportunities to enhance their entrepreneurial, business, and leadership skills, including within the industries of sport and baseball/softball.•Support the build out of the entrepreneurial program and ensure it is seamlessly integrated into the Urban Youth Academy.•Provide mentorship and support to support participants develop their business and leadership skills.•Oversee and manage all entrepreneurial opportunities, including the management of the concession stand and other student-led projects.•Build and maintain relationships with local businesses and community leaders to provide additional opportunities for students.•Ensure all necessary materials and resources are available for the successful execution of the program.•Recruit, matriculate/hire, and develop participants in the entrepreneurial program.•This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and can be modified to include other duties or responsibilities that management deems necessary.Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:•Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and work experience. A degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business, sports administration or other related discipline is an asset.•5 years of experience in curriculum development.•Experience managing at least one direct report.•Strong work ethic and meets deadlines.•Strong knowledge of the Kansas City educational system and MLB landscape is an asset.•Has strong ties to (or affinity for) Kansas City and understands its culture.•Excellent relationship building skills.•Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.•Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.•Flexibility and the ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekend and events.•Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Clover Management, and League Apps.Physical Requirements: •Ability to lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds•Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone•Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times•Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus•Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event schedulingThe physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.This role is a Full-Time, Exempt opportunity that is eligible for Company Benefits, 401K, and PTO.
