Job Description:

Under the direction of the Supervising Physician, provide total medical care to patients following established medical standards, procedures, and practices in New York State within the scope of practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary Job Duties: Examine, diagnose, and treat patient conditions using examinations and tests. Base findings prescribe treatment and medications to attempt to heal and manage any illness or injury. Adhere to principles of professional practice at all times. Perform own duties and responsibilities within established standards and protocols. Notify the Medical Director/Supervising Physician of activities that impact patient outcomes. Make decisions in the best interest of the patients within applicable guidelines and regulations. Comply with all established regulatory standards. Interpret these to patients and the public as appropriate. Follow established routines and utilize supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner. Perform duties in the assigned clinic(s). Work with insurance companies relative to appropriate authorizations to assure payment for services. Demonstrates knowledge of Federal and New York State Regulations with regard to scope of practice. Maintain current knowledge of payor policies, as well as Evaluation and Management Services Guidelines. Maintain electronic medical records by charting as appropriate, for continuity of patient care. Complete all required documentation completely, accurately, and within the required timeframes. Serve as a professional role model for all clinic staff. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and hospital matters. Recognize and display appropriate interactions with staff. Interact appropriately with and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of families, community representatives, agencies, and other non-employees who may be present in the clinic. Recognizes and honors the chain of command. Maintain current clinical skills and perform them independently. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all ages (based on scope of practice). Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Must interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in hospital policy and procedure manuals. Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental relations, and public relations. Perform other reasonable duties as requested.
  • Service Excellence: Provide service excellence to internal and external customers, meeting or exceeding expectations, by including, but not limited to communicating in an open and cooperative manner; avoiding gossip and spreading rumors; avoiding the use of demeaning and derogatory language; building trust and respect by consistently providing the correct service or solution in a timely and accurate manner. Demonstrate understanding of behaviors consistent with the Hospital's Mission, Vision, Goals, and Values. Recognize the importance of customer satisfaction. Develop appropriate behaviors and attitudes regarding exceeding customer expectations. Work to promote cooperative staff efforts to provide and maintain high-quality service to patients, other physicians, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
  • Compliance Regulatory Responsibility: Responsible for complying with regulatory requirements as they relate to Primary and Urgent Care, and supporting organizational goals including, but not limited to: ensuring compliance with relevant DNV, NYSDOH, CMS, federal, and other regulatory requirements that pertain to department activities and actively supports the quality improvement philosophy, mission, goals and objectives of our organization. Abide by established department, clinic, and hospital policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, safety, environment, and infection control. Demonstrate knowledge of Corporate Compliance and knowledge of the procedure for reporting a potential or identified problem.
  • Safety and Environment of Care: Comply with all departmental and facility-wide policies and procedures; report and act on unsafe conditions/equipment; collect, review, and understand all SDS processes, maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • (5%)Quality Improvement: Dedicated to maintaining a high level of Quality and strives to exceed quality expectations by, including, but not limited to engaging in quality improvement initiatives, including departmental and hospital-wide.
  • Continuing Education: Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional growth and development by keeping abreast of the latest developments in appropriate areas (s) of expertise through seminars, workshops, conferences, continuing education, etc. Participates in all departmental and facility-wide mandatory and assigned education and training goals.

Additional Job Duties:

  • Perform reasonably related job duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, Medical Director, and Brooks TLC Hospital Administrative Team members.
  • Maintain steady, consistent, and punctual attendance.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or equivalent per NYSDOH regulations.
  • National certification preferred.
  • NYS License with current registration. ACLS and ATLC coursework work required
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a primary/urgent care or emergency department setting.
