US Aerospace Purchasing Lead for Integrated Cost Reduction

Location: Falconer, NYSalary Range: $101,000 - $121,000

Summary: As part of Aerospace Purchasing embrace vision/strategy to ensure deployment of Fund the Journey methodology and philosophy demonstrating best practices and professional purchasing practices to identify and deliver on Direct Material targets in alignment with ICR (integrated cost reduction).

In this Role You Will:

  • Identify and drive sustainable total cost savings, ensuring availability of quality materials for Aerospace step change improvements.
  • Strategically work with Aerospace Factory Operations to lead cross-functional teams in sourcing alternatives to improve the bottom line.
  • Serve as needed in support of Aerospace Purchasing's primary direct materials and outside services.
  • Knowledge in commercial requirements to procure and cross-train co-workers in Steel, Forgings.
  • Machining/soft-turning, Plating, Coating and Heat Treatment.
  • Apply successful work to realize synergies across factories and secure a long term sustainable, competitive supplier base.
  • Share best practices with counterparts globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply best practice strategic sourcing processes and drive results for Aerospace Operations through FTJ (Fund the Journey) for direct material and outside service sourcing projects, including make/buy analysis.
  • Ensure SKF contract principles and applicable suppliers are in scope in the factory requirements.
  • For ICR initiatives, represent Aerospace Purchasing inside the Aerospace factories and externally, manage specific suppliers.
  • Conduct spend & opportunity analysis for operational cost reduction, including supplier consolidation projects.
  • Participate in developing purchasing plan for the factories including cost plan together with Factory Management, Purchasing Team, and Global Category Managers, when applicable.
  • As a result of participation and collaboration, develop and deploy annual Fund the Journey plan for purchasing TCO ICR.
  • PDCA: (Plan Do Check Act) Track and adjust plan for gaps (actual vs plan).
  • Document FTJ results monthly, and report quarterly or as requested.
  • Represent Purchasing as Subject Matter Expert for Quality Audits and CTQ as needed.in full alignment with the Purchasing Manager.
  • Perform responsibilities in compliance with SKF Code of Conduct, Environment Health & Safety (EHS), and Quality Policies, and work according to the SKF Quality Management System.
  • Support Purchasing PPV (purchase price variance) through administration of Basware cost exceptions and participation in the Standard Cost Calculation.
  • Support supplier sustainability goals (CO2 reduction; GHG emissions, etc).

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant Purchasing experience.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment required.
  • Proficient with computer software and related ERP systems.
  • Proven strength in Change Management and Negotiations.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo, working with multiple functions and levels of the organization.
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to collaborate and deliver results.
  • Knowledge of Government regulations (including Defense Priorities Allocations System (DPAS) and Small Business goal requirements) a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and time management skills.
  • Professional Certification a plus. (ISM, ASCM, PMP or other).
  • Travel as required, estimate-up to 40% domestic, minimal global (as needed).
