Job Profile Morgan Stanley is seeking a senior Market Risk Manager to join and take a leadership role in its Market Risk Department (MRD), based in New York. The role involves two sets of responsibilities within the Global Macro team (IR / FX / EM):

  • In the US Macro team, reporting to the US Head of Macro, the role entails leadership on complex IR / FX (DM and EM) Non-Linear Derivatives risks. The successful candidate will manage a team of risk managers while collaborating with various teams in the Front Office as well as within and outside Firm Risk Management. Key responsibilities include ensuring risk decisions align with the Firm's risk appetite and incentivizing appropriate risk-taking behavior through effective challenge. The candidate will analyze and approve new products or large and/or complex trades, set risk limits, make decisions regarding capacity allocation, and design internal and regulatory scenarios. The successful candidate will also regularly communicate with senior management, including presentations articulating key risks and portfolio changes, and escalate emerging or developing risks as necessary.
  • In the Global Macro team, co-reporting to the Global Head of Macro, the successful candidate will build ownership of the interest rates asset class globally, which entails steering the interest rates appetite and risk capture framework globally, working in partnership with regional partners in MRD and the Front Office.

    • Advanced experience in Rates market risk management; FX and EM structured product experience will be looked upon favorably.
    • Highly motivated and keen on broadening one's experience covering a complex and global business.
    • Independent mindset and ability to challenge people and established processes.
    • Manage, mentor, train and develop a team of risk managers.
    • Experience interacting with senior stakeholders in business, risk and management with highly developed oral and written communication.
    • Team player with a proven track record partnering with multiple stakeholders in a complex organization while collaborating across various teams.
    • Attention to detail, project management, and prioritization skills will also be key in balancing daily deadlines with timely implementation of strategic projects.
    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or higher preferred, especially in a quantitative field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
    Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $160,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
