Why This Role Matters
We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a US Tax Manager to join our Americas Tax team in a newly created role within the Group Finance department at Christie's, an international auction house with a presence in approximately 30 countries globally. Our proactive Tax team manages Christie's tax affairs, M&A, new funding, and partners with businesses and senior stakeholders.
This newly created role will report to the Senior Direct Tax Manager, Americas, and is ideal for someone with broad experience in all areas of US tax, including tax advisory/modelling, tax compliance/provision, and US sales tax. The candidate will manage the US Group's tax affairs relating to the Americas in all aspects.
In addition to strong tax technical capabilities, the candidate must be a self-starter, demonstrating strong work ethics and good attention to detail.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Manage the US annual and forecasted tax provision process, including reviewing tax provision calculations and coordinating with external providers and financial statement auditors.
* Forecast and manage execute Effective Tax Rate (ETR) calculations
* Review federal, state, and local income tax compliance for US and international entities, including calculations of quarterly federal and state estimated income tax payments and annual extensions, ensuring timely payment and filing of tax returns
* Coordinate with Group Tax in London on developing and executing strategy in the Americas
* Manage federal, state, and local income tax audits, informational reporting requirements, and annual Statement of Information (SOS) reporting
* Maintain the federal and state tax calendar, assigning responsibilities to the tax team and external service providers to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
* Liaise with external tax consultants to ensure compliance in all jurisdictions where Christie's operates
* Research and resolve various tax issues and opportunities, including changes in legislation and complex tax concepts (e.g., Sec 385, M&A, tax structuring, FDII, BEAT, R&D).
* Manage junior team members and support the Senior Tax Manager in ad hoc research
What You'll Bring to the Team
* Bachelor's Degree required
* CPA preferred, but not required
* Minimum of 5 years public/private experience
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite
* Strong financial systems understanding ideally including ERP and performance management systems such as JDE/ Hyperion. Advanced Excel skills.
* Experience with UK GAAP a plus
* Strong communication skills - written & verbal.
* Strong personal management skills, ability to organize self/office and liaise effectively with staff

* Self-motivated and can take a task from start to finish with minimal supervision

Compensation Range
Salary: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00
