We work with leading Retail and Hospitality players on the most important strategy questions they face. Our team regularly collaborates internationally and works closely with our analytics team for our corporate, investor and financing clients
- In Grocery we have a strong track record working with corporates and investors globally on all areas of business growth, innovation, commercial optimisation and M&A
- In the Apparel and Luxury sectors we are recognised as a leading advisor to CEOs and owners of key brands. We focus particularly on customer focused growth strategies as well as operating model optimisation
- We have deep expertise across Specialty Retail in areas such as Health & Wellbeing, Pets, Kids, Home, Beauty, Greeting Cards, etc Acting as a go to adviser for all the major private equity firms and boards.
- Across both digitally native and omnichannel Multi-Category retailers we have worked with many of the major global players looking at major strategic questions from growth strategies to customer journeys to international strategy
- We work across the Travel & Accommodation value chain, from asset owners (hotel chains & airports) to distribution partners such as online travel agents and tour operators
- In Food & Beverage we work with a broad range of multinational brands on topics ranging from proposition design and pricing to internationalisation and franchisee strategy development, while also working with digital aggregators and distribution platforms
- In the broader Hospitality and Entertainment arena we work across a range of exciting sub-verticals - most notably with global leaders in gyms, cinemas, holiday & theme parks
Position SummaryThe Associate Partner (AP) role combines business development, project delivery, and involvement in building a practice (for example by contributing to publications or conference speeches). An AP may work on a single project initially, then increasingly oversee two simultaneously, or manage some business development activity. We help our APs to build a distinctive personal platform that will be the basis for them to succeed as a Partner. Specifically, the AP role involves:
- Thought leadership on strategy and diligence projects, from designing the approach to overseeing analysis to crystallising findings in a compelling way for clients
- Leading OC&C project teams (typically 3-8 people on a project), including assisting team members to develop consulting skills; i.e. helping motivated and talented individuals to progress quickly
- Rapidly establishing themselves in the eyes of clients as a very strong, professional manager who can provide genuine insight - and investing in client relationships beyond projects
- Actively participating in sector team efforts to reinforce OC&C's position as leaders in strategy consultancy in our chosen areas
About The CandidateResponsibilities
- Direct and manage analysis, design, and delivery of consulting projects, ensuring client satisfaction
- Assist in the design and delivery of client pitches and proposals
- Deliver against deadlines
- Manage and motivate project teams....
- .... and support the development and coaching of junior team members
- Develop and expand a network of client and advisor relationships
- Translate strategy and business needs into actionable recommendations
- Support the development of IP (in the form of publications, conference presentations, etc)
Qualifications
- Outstanding track record of problem-solving, and achieving / exceeding objectives in a project-based environment, with the equivalent of 6-7 years' experience of complex strategy consulting projects, including experience from a blue chip and / or strategy consultancy group
- Excellent understanding of some part of the Retail and Hospitality markets
- Experience of managing multiple workstreams and leading consulting teams
- Applied experience in translating key client issues into clear deliverables and implementing this advice
- A proven track record of developing successful relationships at senior executive to Board level
