* Direct the operation of the power plant to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant operations
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment by observing safety and security procedures, and reporting/correcting potentially unsafe conditions
* Supervise the daily operation of the entire generating unit or plant while holding supervised employees accountable to work safely and productively
* Monitor and ensure local, state, and federal environmental compliance regulations are strictly enforced
* Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies, procedures, and guidelines
* Direct on-the-job training for operator trainees/apprentices and new control operators
* Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, including Administration, Engineering, and Maintenance
* Monitor and control costs associates with the operations of the plant
* Plan and manage annual maintenance shutdowns
* Develop, maintain, and update plant operating procedures and guidelines
* Maximize generation and maintain efficient operation of all plant processes associated with the power plant
* Communicate expectations, coach employees, provide feedback, and work collaboratively with other departments
* License Required: State of Maine 3rd Class Stationary Steam Engineer License or higher
* Years of Experience Required: A minimum of 5 years of operations experience in a biomass boiler power plant or similar industrial facility including building systems. In lieu of 5 years experience, the equivalent combination of plant operations experience and education or Bachelor's degree in an applicable field plus 1 year of operations experience
* Basic computer skills; including email, excel, and word processing
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
* Able to communicate effectively and constructively
* Ability to make timely decisions during critical plant conditions
* Able to handle multiple projects or assignments effectively
* Proven leadership and ability to work amongst strong teams
