Summary:

The Utility/ Custodial Worker will ensure district buildings, grounds and equipment are maintained in the best possible condition, providing a safe environment and a positive appearance for students, staff and community.

Responsibilities:

* Custodial coverage and daily building tasks as need.

* Moving and assembly of district furniture and equipment.

* Set-up and tear down of equipment.

* Interior and exterior painting.

* Mowing, trimming, edging, tree and leaf removal, trash and drains.

* Seasonal snow removal, salting and sanding - requests may fall outside of normal working hours.

* Possess a valid Michigan driver's license.

* Drive a mail cube van as a sub when needed.

* Clean and maintain vehicle and work spaces.

* Occasionally run district errands and deliver items.

* Recycle items as needed.

* Works closely with maintenance/grounds team to assist with tasks as needed.

* All other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and office staff.

* Project a positive image for Zeeland Public Schools whenever you come into contact with the public, guests, or visitors on or off school property.

Qualifications:

* High school diploma/GED required.

* Applicant shall have the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to complete work in an efficient manner. The person must have the flexibility to assist and support district staff as duties and assignments require.

* Ability to meet physical demands of position and be able to physically lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally other heavy physical labor.

* Ability to learn and operate a wide range of custodial equipment, power tools, trucks, and snow removal equipment used by the district.

* Ability to effectively communicate, accept and learn new processes, technologies, and techniques.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, including maintenance, custodial, grounds and school staff to accomplish necessary tasks.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday

8 hours per day

7:00 am to 3:30 pm

Full year

Compensation:

Level II: $18.34 - $21.44 per hour

Full family insurance

Vacation, personal days, and sick time

Replacement Position
