We are searching for a dedicated, and energetic individual to be a vital link between the residents of Hamlet and our staff. The primary responsibilities of the Meter Reader is to Perform responsible field clerical and technical work in collecting and recording meter readings and connecting and disconnecting utility services. Employees in this class are responsible for the field work involving reading of water meters, the recording of consumption, and the completion of assigned work orders. Drives and/or walks to read residential, commercial, and industrial water meters on an assigned route; records the readings on a hand-held computer. Checks to see that water meters are functioning properly and reports any defective meters to supervisor. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Water Meter Crew Leader. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to pass a physical and drug screen.
