As a Utility Insulator, you will:
* Perform inspections and assessments of existing insulation on mechanical systems to assist with work prioritization.
* Inspect insulation, stencil, and label piping systems.
* Insulate steam, plumbing, refrigeration, and air conditioning lines, ducts, and equipment using various insulating materials.
* Cut, shape, glue, paste, or fasten insulation of appropriate lengths and sizes, mix and apply wet insulation material (mud) on elbows, valves, joints, and outdoor underground pipes, and apply tar and wrapping material to pipes.
* Fabricate and install outside jacketing, including PVC and sheet metal.
* Remove and dispose of insulation containing non-asbestos material before re-installation.
* Record time and materials for insulation projects.
* Perform cost estimates, material orders, and maintenance of records.
* Prepare reports and inventory of equipment.
* Clean, maintain, and properly store all tools and equipment.
* Erect scaffolding, ladders, and walk-boards for insulation projects.
