Description Summary: Performs various labor/clean-up duties throughout the coke plant and facility. Assists maintenance crew as needed to facilitate repairs and preventative maintenance functions. Uses various mobile equipment in performance of duties. Loads semi trailers as required, empty railcars assist oven repairs and changes bag filters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operates equipment and performs tasks such as operating labor (operates production equipment for non-production related activities). General labor and mobile equipment operation required to support and maintain plant operations. Supports and assists in maintenance activities. Checks equipment for proper operation and prepares report. Checks conveyors, feeders, hoppers, chute, etc. for spillage or blockage and removes and resets conveyors. Changes damper blocks and cylinders; loads and/or unloads spare parts and supplies. Lubricates and services mobile equipment with oil, water, and fuel. Paints hand rails, floors, safety lines, equipment, and walls as directed. Operates locomotive to position and transport railroad cars, operates controls to load coke into cars and unload coal from cars, couples and uncouples cars, throws track switches, closes doors, clears blocked chutes, resets conveyors. Maintains plant cleanliness. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Prior experience with heavy equipment operations such as front-end loader, dozer, skid steer, etc. High School diploma and/or GED required. Three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to work in high, precarious places; extreme heat (non-weather); and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with noise level in some areas high.
