Areas of ResponsibilityThe Utility Operator will operate various entry level sawmill equipment and be responsible for completing clean-up of regular assigned areas, such as laying sticks, using a walk behind blowers, handheld air compressor blower wand and manual tool such as a broom and shovel to clean-up loose bark, chips and sawdust in the sawmill and planer mill production areas.Education & Qualification
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma/Equivalent
- Manufacturing/warehouse/lumber operations preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Excellent attendance record
- Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors
- Able to perform the job with limited supervision
- Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers.
- Keep all machines clean of saw dust and other fibers.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work and operate in industrial conditions (maybe warm/hot, dust/dirt, noisy, heavy machinery or elevated working surface) with proper safety training.
- Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, or standing for long periods of time
- Able to do the following: bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, climbing, stretch with body, arms, and/or legs.
- Able to lift 50 lbs throughout work shift
- Able to carry 20 lbs. occasionally throughout a 10-12-hour shift. Maximum distance to carry 8 feet throughout the shift.
