Description: ABOUT THE ROLEThe Utility Operator safely and efficiently performs a variety of tasks and equipment operation to assist the needs of the facility. This is an entry level position, but an amazing starting point for a long career in the industry leader of concrete and asphalt. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
  • Practice and promote safety in such a way as including but not limited to:
    • Assessing risks before starting tasks
    • Only performing authorized activities
    • Utilizing appropriate PPE
  • Exercise and encourage core values including but not limited to:
    • Professional development of self
    • Coaching others by inspiration and empowerment
  • Maintain grounds, offices, warehouse, yard, etc.
  • Operate and conduct general maintenance on mobile equipment
  • Perform unloading functions
  • Assist with general mechanical maintenance
  • Promotes Holcim U.S. Safety guidelines and standards, ensuring that safety and compliance requirements are met and always followed
  • Other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOREducation: High School Diploma/GEDAdditional Education Preferred: Associate degree in mechanical, electrical or related fieldRequired Work Experience:1-3 yearsAdditional Requirements:
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ( PPE ), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and mechanical maintenance background
    • Welding experience is an asset
  • Autonomous; meticulous; exercises good judgment
  • Ability to work well on their own and in a team environment
  • Experience in the operation of heavy equipment
  • The candidate must be flexible regarding his/her work schedule.
  • Skid Steer experience preferred
  • Vac Truck skillset preferred
