Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Field Services and Metering Supervisor.Essential Functions/Typical TasksInstalling, removing, troubleshooting, and servicing utility meters.(The following tasks are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. - Connects and disconnects meters; documents meter readings on service orders.
- Checks meters for proper operation and troubleshoots problems; changes meters functioning improperly.
- Follows all policies and procedures.
- Performs all duties of Utility Service Specialist when required.
- Maintains on-call status during hurricanes, ice storms and other emergencies as required.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in the installation, removing, reading of meters; general knowledge of the geography and street locations of the City and surrounding service areas; general knowledge of standard office methods and procedures including general knowledge of computer operation and computer skills; general knowledge of the hazards which may be encountered in performance of duties; ability to perform manual work and physical stamina to withstand working under adverse weather conditions; visual acuity is required for color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines and electronic equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; ability to deal with customers with tact, diplomacy and firmness; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and associates; ability to work independently.
