Salary: $19.64 - $31.44 HourlyLocation : StuartJob Type: Full-TimeJob Number: R00148Department: Distribution & Collection TeamOpening Date: 08/18/2024Closing Date: ContinuousFLSA: Non-ExemptPosition Summary Under the supervision of the Team Leader II or Field Services Manager, performs installation, maintenance, and repairs of the municipal water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Employees in this class are engaged in the construction and repair of water and wastewater mains and attendant devices. Work includes connection of fittings, excavation for the installation of lines, placement, removal and minor repair to water meters and the testing of water pressure as required. Duties involve exposure to unsanitary wastes and occasional adverse weather conditions. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring screening for illegal substance and alcohol use. Work is reviewed through observation and adherence to established policies and procedures. Examples of Essential Functions Installs, water and wastewater mains and services; excavates trenches for main placement, installation and repair. Raises, lowers and repairs valve boxes; installs water meters; connects and flow tests fire hydrants; installs stand pipes. Assists in locating breaks in utility lines so as to effect repair. Assists in repair and replacement of water and sewer lines. Operates motor vehicles to transport personnel and supplies to work site. Performs general grounds and non-skilled level facilities maintenance and cleaning. Responsible for exercising and maintenance of all potable water valves within the system. Maintains, repairs and installs new fire hydrants. Operates various heavy equipment and tools. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as a Class 3 Water Distribution Systems Operator required, or the ability to obtain said Certification within 14 months. Must be able to obtain a Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B with tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
