Job Description:
Overview The Utility Technicians are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the six (6) Wastewater Treatment Plants and the City's lift stations. These positions are also responsible for the maintenance and operation of the wastewater collection lines. Employees must remain in compliance with TCEQ and other applicable laws and regulations while working within the scope of their position. Responsibilities Conducts regular tours of the facilities Performs preventive maintenance on engines, generators, pumps, settling tanks, filters, chemical feed systems, and other equipment Reviews job performance by observing and critiquing work techniques Trains and mentors other employees Performs basic to intermediate process control measurements, testing of DO, pH, and Residual Analysis meters, sludge quality, aqueous and atmospheric sulfide levels, etc. Performs emergency chemical release responses, containment, and evacuation procedures Demonstrates basic knowledge of plant flow and treatment process Performs emergency chemical release responses, containment, and evacuation procedures Demonstrates basic knowledge of plant flow and treatment process Performs process lab analysis and records data for residuals Maintains accurate inventory of all treatment chemicals Monitors distribution system pressures remotely Activates pumps, motors, and valves remotely Receives chemical deliveries Applies knowledge of TCEQ regulations Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED No prior experience required Licenses and Certifications Required Class B CDL license required within one (1) year of hire Class D Wastewater license required within one (1) year of hire A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below: Criminal Background Check: Yes Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes Drug Screening: Yes Physical Exam: Yes Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
