Summary:Canyon Falls Farm is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Utility Technician to join our local farm team. The Utility Tech is responsible for the implementation of agronomic standards, adherence to budget guidelines, and company and governmental policies and procedures regarding personnel and safety. The Utility Tech plays a key role in the success of the farm operations through care and maintenance of crops and equipment. Responsibilities: Assist Farm Management with supervision of personnel, land, capital, machinery, water and all other resources. Ensure the farm can produce, harvest, and store high quality and high yielding crops to achieve the greatest profitability per acre while improving the resource base. Perform basic repairs and maintenance on equipment safely and proficiently, keep maintenance records. Upkeep the center pivots and related irrigation equipment per the specific company methods and techniques. Scout the fields, monitor moisture (neutron probe) and the irrigation scheduling. Assist farm leadership in managing and motivating personnel on all operational tasks, policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Ensure timeliness of land preparations, seedbed preparation, planting, cultivating, chemical and fertilizer application, irrigation, and harvesting. Safe and legal application of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides. Manage inventory and keep the product organized. Become a specialist on pesticide labels, MSDS sheets, application and chemical reporting procedures, and related safety information. Assist in developing the water schedule. Perform a variety of other farm-wide duties and tasks, as a supervisor and team player. Attend on-site safety trainings and comply with ARI safety policies and procedures. Qualifications: 2-4 years relevant experience in a similar role (row crop irrigation, chemical/fertilizer application, farm equipment maintenance, etc.) Valid in-state driver's license. Private Pesticide Applicators license required. Strong demonstrated interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills. Proficiency in math and general competency with computers, including ability to use MS tools and learn proprietary programs/systems. Able to meet the physical requirements of the role which includes bending, stooping, walking, sitting, repetitive motions of hands/wrists, as well as carrying and lifting up to 70lbs occasionally. Able to work in the external environmental conditions (snow, rain, heat, cold, etc) and work standing for 10+ hours per day. Shift may include afterhours, holidays and weekends.
