This employee performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled manual tasks including maintenance and equipment operation in various City Departments including Parks, Public Works, and Stormwater.This job description is an overview and is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:While employed, the individual will perform a variety of duties, which will include, but not limited to the following:
- Operates light to heavy-duty trucks and equipment, including dump trucks, and small forklifts to haul rock, gravel, sand, dirt, and sweeper debris
- Assists in loading and unloading materials, supplies, tools, sweepings, debris, and dirt
- Transports sweeper debris from streets to landfill
- Cleans, maintains, and repairs sanitary sewers, storm sewers, manholes, drains, roadways, alleys, and catch basins
- Builds, pours, and finishes concrete forms
- Operates air compressors and generators
- Utilizes a pick, shovel, jackhammer, tamper, and small asphalt roller
- Hauls, rakes, and applies asphalt to streets
- Digs ditches
- Assists in construction and installation of traffic control signs, markings and signals
- Operates manual and power weed cutters and applies non-restricted chemicals to remove weeds from City property and roadways
- Operates chain saws and hand saws to trim trees and shrubs and to remove brush
- Operates various hand, power, and riding mowers to cut grass and mulch
- Removes snow from City parking lots, sidewalks, and facilities
- Salts and sands roadways
- Removes leaves and trash from City property
- Removes graffiti
- Maintains landscapes
- Assists in laying conduit and installation of signal heads and foundations
- Performs routine repair and maintenance including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
- Performs daily equipment inspections
- Performs minor repairs to trucks and equipment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above, this position requires the following:
- A high school diploma or GED
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older within six months of appointment to meet the requirements of the CDL
- A valid driver's license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of employment
- License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification
- During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: During the first six months, candidates that are hired will receive specialized training in the department where he/she is assigned. Prior to the end of the six-month period, the employee shall be required to possess and maintain the required Commercial Drivers License (CDL) (Class B air brake endorsement).The employee will be exposed to extreme weather conditions, heavy lifting, and moving parts or equipment. Employees in some positions may be exposed to traffic, noise, heights, dangerous chemicals, disease, damp areas, foul odors, and confined or cramped working places. Individual must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Overtime and rotating shift work may be required. Employee may be on call on weekends, nights, etc. Employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen and will be subject to random drug screening. The individual will be required to possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license throughout employment.All required licenses and certifications must be maintained throughout the term of employment.
