Job Description:
Durham Academy is accepting applications for a part-time assistant Softball Coach. The season runs from mid February through early May. Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with tryouts and team selection in consultation with the Varsity Head Coach
  • Help Plan and execute effective practices
  • Assist varsity head coach with creating and executing game strategy
  • Drive a minibus to all road games
  • Collaborate with all coaches in the softball program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty
Candidates should expect a regular weekday commitment of 90-minute practices with 2-3 games per week. This position reports to both the Head Softball Coach and the Director of Athletics.The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:
  • Experience playing or coaching softball at the interscholastic or collegiate level.
  • A commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student-athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches)
  • The ability to lead student-athletes with competitive energy and formative care
