Job Description SummaryMUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.Sonographer/Technologists must demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology. Sonographer/Technologists are the primary liaison between patients, licensed independent practitioners and other members of the support team. Sonographer/Technologists must remain sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, assessment, monitoring, and care skills. Consistently produce vascular scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients. Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in Vascular Sonography exams to include:2D scans, Duplex imaging, Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI), and Doppler studies. Performs measurements and calculations according to protocol; provides written or an oral summary of preliminary findings, report abnormal findings (if immediate attention is indicated) to the interpreting Radiologist. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Is responsible for the safety and well-being of all patients in the department. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with the patient(s) and health care team. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Follows all established Ultrasound, Radiology and Hospital Policies and Procedures and is proficient in exams both within and outside of the Department. Conduct basic equipment maintenance, quality control measures, and other administrative, technical, or supervisory tasks as might be required. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.Minimum Education and Experience:High school diploma or GED required. Preferred Associates Degree from a two-year allied health education program that is patient care related and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
