This will include building maintenance, facilities support, space assignments, fixed asset/property management, key control manager, preventive maintenance, renovation support, equipment repair, and serving as a liaison with VCU Facilities Management. This position will report to the Director of Operations.Major Responsibilities:Facilities Support-Collaborates with the Office of the Dean and the Director of Operations to ensure that the School of the Arts is in safe condition and that the space is conducive to activities that occur within the School and all building occupants are secure and comfortable.-Stays abreast of building maintenance requirements and communicates maintenance requests with Facilities Management, Office of Environmental Health & Safety and VCU Police.-Supports the planning and progress of renovation projects as delegated by the Director of Operations and obtain estimates and proposals from facilities management and/or outside vendors, selecting materials and monitoring progress of projects until completion.-Offers suggestions and recommendations for managing and proceeding with projects to ensure that deadlines are met.-Supports the Director of Operations with cost calculations and comparisons for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money.-Serves as contact for facilities related services for the School and liaises with tenants of commercial properties or other properties when necessary.-Manages daily inspection of public areas in the assigned VCUarts' buildings and strives to keep public areas neat and presentable.-Either straightens and picks up or reports problems of fixtures, furnishings, signage, elevators floors, walls, etc. to supervisor and/or housekeeping or appropriate campus personnel for immediate attention.-Coordinates fire drills when requested by OEHS, Fire & Safety for successful evacuation of appropriate buildings through organization and communication with occupants.-Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, establishes priorities and work assignment by regularly checking email, voice mail, and cell phone when responding to web-based facilities requests. This requires working closely with VCU building inspectors and other appropriate VCU operating units.-Completes special projects and additional duties as assigned and provides feedback and back-up to other staff as assigned.Surplus Property Manager-Responsible for consolidating surplus property, completing surplus property report and coordinating removal of items by Facilities Management.Space Assignments-Collaborates with the Office of the Dean and the Director of Operations on room (space) assignments and space utilization in the School of the Arts.-Works with the department Chairs and Directors with coordination of office relocation or re-configuring office and classroom space and works with school personnel to handle logistics of relocating or reassigning offices.-Assists with review of furniture needs (type and arrangement) for classrooms and offices, as when offices change hands or use is changed depending on needs.Building Security-Responsible for issuing keys, overseeing electronic building control, and maintaining log sheets. This also includes ensuring that keys are returned when an office is vacated.-Responsible for submitting requests for duplication (or replacement) of building keys.-Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and contact relevant parties immediately.Only election applications submitted via the VCU Jobs Website will be accepted.
