Posting Summary The Supportive Service for Veteran Families ( SSVF ) is a program that provides assistance to very low-income Veteran families who are experiencing homelessness and/or are at imminent risk of homelessness to gain and retain stable housing. The SSVF Housing Service Coordinator provides case management and housing navigation services to Veterans throughout southern Vermont using the Housing First model and utilizes Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction and Trauma Informed Care to help Veterans and their families improve their quality of life and increase connection to stable permanent housing opportunities. This position plays a critical role by guiding low-income Veteran families through the housing stability process, connecting them to resources and providing direct assistance as needed, with the goal of stabilizing housing for Veteran families who are literally homeless and those who are in danger of losing their homes. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field, and two years of applicable experience required. Effective verbal and written communications skills and interpersonal skills required. Ability with training to use computerized case management applications to enter and track participant information; ability to understand and explain program details and workflow required. Desirable Qualifications Experiential knowledge as a military veteran and/or with homelessness; training, education, or experience with social services support desirable. Knowledge of the HUD Homeless Management Information System desired.
