The Field Service Engineer is responsible for driving the install, repair, maintenance & lifecycle management of our automated systems and services which differentiate Airgas as the US leader in Bulk, Package, and Specialty Gases. The candidate must possess knowledge and ability across mechanical & electrical engineering as well as the IT field. The candidate must also be able to effectively communicate the purpose of these Airgas systems with a variety of clientele. - Collaborate with management, engineering, IT, safety, and production personnel on system support activities at AT&S across Airgas production facilities nationwide.
- Assist with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Serve as a cross functional member on a multi-disciplined team to assist with maintenance of automated gas filling, blending, and analytical systems.
- Technical ability to build, repair, and maintain all systems within AT&S.
- Ability to differentiate and resolve mechanical, electrical, analytical and IT related issues.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills required for more sophisticated automation systems remote/on-site
- Efficiently plan and execute all service requirements pertaining to field assets.
- Coordinate and execute system installations.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field of study or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years' experience safely installing and maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing complex and safety sensitive automated systems.
- 5+ years experience in an Industrial Gas Plant Environment.
- Knowledge of electrical codes: NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, NFPA 496, UL 508A, etc.
- 3-5 years' experience with industrial controls, computer and PLC networks, set up and assistance.
- High attention to detail, and ability to interpret intricate drawings and instruction manuals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Demonstrable history of completing projects on time and within budget.
- Experience managing and knowledge of the following areas highly desirable:
- Specialty Gases
- Computer Engineering / IT
- Electronics
- Electrical systems
- IO/ PLC control systems & methodologies
- FEA, CFD, Hazops
- Experience with PLC controls
- HAZOP procedures
- Vision systems
