Identify and implement new backhaul opportunities - negotiate cost justified allowances and pick-up contracts with vendors. Measure success against original projections. Establish working relationship with Procurement and Suppliers to further enable opportunity identification and program success.System Maintenance, supporting Samsara, Fuel Master, Prospero, Manhattan and YMS. Oversees the daily yard operation.Routing knowledge as the routers report to him and he oversees the daily routing solutions.Supporting the stores on the daily needs on on-time delivery. Interacts with store managers to fulfill their needs.Plans and coordinates transportation resources with distribution and store managers.Ensure Transportation resources are being used in the most effective manner.Participate in formulating and implementing long and short-range plans and strategies. Develop ideas, plans and strategies that will increase backhaul savings.Manage the execution of plans and strategies by directing the day-to-day operations of the fleet outbound group.Establish and manage to budgets. Accountable for results. Evaluate ability to meet program goals. Develop and implement action plans to achieve results.Develop new inbound programs to leverage fleet capacity, explore opportunities to act as carrier for non-competitor vendors, explore partnerships between distribution sites to further reduce the net landed cost of goods.Identify and implement new backhaul opportunities - negotiate cost justified allowances and pick-up contracts with vendors. Measure success against original projections. Establish working relationship with Procurement and Suppliers to further enable opportunity identification and program success.Develop best practices to provide consistent work processes and procedures across the Brands. Analyze departmental policies and procedures. Implement changes as necessary to improve overall departmental effectiveness and increase benefits to all parties, including Procurement and Distribution.Identify and resolve pick-up issues that result in higher costs and/or lower service level by working with Transportation Operators. Maintain profitability of programs and meet Company service level goals by working with vendors and procurement.Establish working relationships in vendor community that enhance the Backhaul program. Ensure vendors are aware of the backhaul programs role and goals.Financials tracking (P&L). Prepares period reports for management and RBS. Monitors department expenses against budget using cost per mile results. Investigate and resolve discrepancies by working with Accounting, AFS, systems and vendors. Measure KPI's. Identify and resolve system issues that interfere with proper revenue receipt.Communicate and report on program results to Leadership.Train, develop and evaluate staff. Cross-train to ensure proper back up for all positions.Manage backhaul dispatch process to ensure smooth flow of outbound freight. Empower associates with the knowledge and ability to resolve day-to-day issues.Establish relationships with Procurement to identify and resolve buying issues and practices that negatively impact the effectiveness of the backhaul program. Ensure all parties have an understanding of the value of the program and the effect on cost of goods. Bonus eligible position. Shift: 1st shift most times. Weekends are required.
