This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, if they meet the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications.NY HELPS Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications:Must be a Veteran of the US Armed Services who served on active duty for over 180 days for purposes other than training (unless you were released from active duty due to a service connected disability) or as a member of a reserve component, served under an order of active duty during a period of war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge is authorized and honorable discharge or under conditions in the NYS Restoration of Honor Act and have:1. A bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience in administering employment programs which meet the special needs of veterans which may include veteran advocacy: OR2. A bachelor's degree and three years of full-time experience in personnel administration, human resources development, or employee relations where your primary responsibility was to provide services to veterans. Note: Your required educational credentials must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education. Duties Description As a Veterans Program Coordinator, you will assist in coordinating field operations for employment and training services provided through the New York State Department of Labor. You will ensure a large number of Veterans, eligible spouses and transitioning service members, secure employment. You will coordinate with DOL office managers to reinforce policies, guidance and reporting support the priority services to Veterans across the agency. You will develop regional staffing plans in conjunction with local area staff, create and analyze management reports, as well as develop and provide training to veteran staff.
