The Animal Hospital at Reems Creek , a CareVet partner located near Asheville, NC is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate veterinarian to join our practice. About the Position We are seeking a passionate and skilled Associate Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate should be committed to delivering high-quality veterinary care and possess excellent communication skills. At The Animal Hospital at Reems Creek, you will have access to a comprehensive range of tools, including surgical laser, high-quality ultrasound machine and digital full-body and dental radiography, and resources, as well as a supportive team, to help you provide the best care possible to our patients. The opportunity exists to perform a variety of surgeries and procedures in a supportive and nurturing environment if that is desired. The Medical director is readily available to mentor or collaborate as needed but supportive of medical independence when desired. With a dedicated team and state-of-the-art facilities, we provide exceptional veterinary care to our beloved animal companions. Our hospital is closed on weekends to ensure a healthy work-life balance for our team members. Our veterinarians work a 4-day work week.

Responsibilities:

• Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
• Treat and dress wounds
• Perform surgery on animals
• Test for and vaccinate against diseases
• Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
• Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
• Prescribe medication
• Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
• Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
• Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
• Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
• Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
• Strong fondness and understanding of animals
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of animal behavior
• Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals
