How You'll Make an Impact: As a Veterinary Assistant at Montclair Pet Hospital, in the heart of beautiful Oakland, CA, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the hospital operates smoothly and efficiently. From assisting with appointments and treatments to dental cleanings and surgeries, your contributions will directly support our doctors and enhance the care we provide to the pets in our community. Through hands-on training, you'll continue to develop your skills and grow within the team. Your dedication will help create a positive experience for both pets and pet parents, while fostering a collaborative and supportive hospital environment Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Physical examinations and patient assessment- TPR, Treatment Plan Presentation, Treatments
  • Surgical preparation and assisting
  • Anesthesia monitoring and recovery
  • Dentistry cleanings and x-rays
  • Radiology- Full body and extremities
  • Inpatient care
  • Venipuncture/laboratory processing
  • Catheter placement
  • Training and development of junior/new veterinary assistants
Qualifications:
  • At least 1+ year experience or training/education working in a veterinary facility
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, people oriented
  • Comfortable around animals
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be capable of being cross-trained for occasional front office receptionist duties
  • Telephone and computer skills are necessary.
  • A team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments and to accept change
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 50 pounds

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, VetnCare is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $20.00 to $30.00, dependent on experience. This compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensures and certifications, education, and other business and organizational needs.
